Occasionally, I enjoy plane spotting and photographing flying things. One day, at a popular designated observation point for Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, I was fascinated by this gentleman, who was like me, energetically taking pictures of the planes. Luckily, a couple of US Air Force C-17A Globemasters came in on a beautifully overcast morning.

“Lovely day for plane photography, isn’t it?”

After the plane in the photo landed, I approached this gentleman and after two attempts by me to say, “Lovely day for plane photography, isn’t it?” he responded with a grumpy “heh?” I went back to my car and just sat and waited for the next plane.
There are many types of people at this designated observation point – enthusiasts of many kinds. Photographers of many skill sets, aviation fans, nerds, tough guys, people having lunch in their cars and an assortment of dad-hat-wearing folks with cell phones held high!
